5 Important Reminders
1) Prevent Frozen Pipes
- Keep your heat set to at least 60°F, even if you are away.
- Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate.
- Let faucets drip slightly during extremely cold temperatures.
2) Clear and Maintain Walkways
- Residents are responsible for keeping personal entryways, steps, and walkways clear of snow and ice.
- Use salt or ice melt as needed to reduce slip hazards.
3) Know How to Report Emergencies
- If you experience a storm-related maintenance emergency (loss of heat, burst pipes, water intrusion), contact maintenance immediately.
- Do not wait—early reporting can prevent major damage.
4) Use Space Heaters Safely
- Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything flammable.
- Never leave heaters unattended or running overnight.
5) Plan for Power or Service Interruptions
- Charge phones and essential devices.
- Have flashlights, batteries, and necessary supplies readily available.
- Avoid using candles if possible.
